Content	<?php video( 'entropy.m4v' ); ?> <br> <br> <?php ruler( 'About' ); ?> This piece is a live audio-visual improvisation for six performers and conductor. The performers and conductor are networked, allowing the conductor individual and ensemble-wide control over the performance. Each performer has an audio-visual software instrument that accounts for one sixth of the projected image, and the conductor has an interface to control each of these instruments. Performers improvise freely and the conductor structures the piece by controlling various groups of performers at different times. In addition to directing the performance, the conductor is also manipulating a computer generated trace of sound in the concert-hall; the trace is rendered as an alpha-mask and cut into six parts which are used to mask the performers' video output, creating a six-screen oscilloscope. <br> <br> Entropy was performed during the spring 2007 CalArts audio-visual improv ensemble concert. <br> <br> <?php ruler( 'Screenshots' ); ?> <?php image( 'gloscope.png' ); ?>
